Enhancing Chicago's Lakefront Trail

New Traffic Patterns To Begin Week of June 23

Drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians traveling near the Navy Pier Flyover construction area will see a series of changes to traffic patterns beginning the week of June 23. The patterns are expected to be in place through December 2014.

The north sidewalk and right turn lane on Grand Avenue onto northbound Lake Shore Drive will be closed, but drivers will still be able to turn right onto the ramp from Grand Avenue.

In addition, the northernmost through lane on Grand Avenue and the easternmost lane on northbound lower Lake Shore Drive will be subject to daily lane closures from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the week.

Pedestrians and bicyclists will continue to use the existing detour around Lake Point Tower. Visit the Detours and Closures page to help plan your trip accordingly.

This work will facilitate a necessary sewer relocation as well as the construction of a bridge pier at the intersection of Grand Avenue and lower Lake Shore Drive. The work in this stage is expected to run through December 2014.
