Phase II construction continues this month with excavation and installation of piling to support the proposed bridge. Crews are making progress on the partial demolition and reconstruction of the existing Lake Shore Drive pier and unused stub ramp adjacent to the northbound Lake Shore Drive off ramp to Illinois/Streeter. These changes will make room for the Flyover trail.

After Nov. 9, the right lane of northbound Lake Shore Drive – between the Chicago River and Illinois Street – will remain closed, and lane width on the ramp to Illinois Street will be reduced until January 2018. During the week of Nov. 27 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., the northbound Lake Shore Drive off ramp to Illinois/Streeter will close to remove existing steel beams. The detour route for this closure will be northbound Lake Shore Drive/Randolph to northbound Lower Lake Shore Drive to Eastbound Illinois.
